Fire Rescue Victoria

Established on 1 July 2020 as part of Victoria’s Fire Services Reforms, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) serves and protects communities across Melbourne and Victoria’s major regional centres from 85 FRV fire and rescue stations across the state. Its career firefighters operate 47 fire stations in metropolitan Melbourne and 38 regional stations. FRV employs circa 4500 staff geographically dispersed across Melbourne and major Regional Centres across Victoria.

The Chief Financial Officer will ensure the directorate supports FRV’s mission to “Protect our Community” as a world class fire and rescue service.

Reporting to the Executive Director Corporate Services you will provide critical financial analysis and strategic advice to support the Executive Leadership Team. You’ll lead the finance team of circa 25 staff to generate financial reporting and performance data to facilitate and enhance enterprise decision making and manage key organisational projects, risks and operational priorities.

You’ll demonstrate experience in management accounting, business intelligence and reporting systems that link financial and non-financial performance metrics to adopt evidence-based strategies in a complex operating environment. Your advanced written and verbal communication capabilities will be applied to presenting and preparing briefings on complex issues, comprehensive reports and funding submissions.

You will demonstrate high level financial management experience, sound understanding of accounting obligations and implementation of policies and governance that mitigate enterprise risk. Demonstrated responsibility for strategic planning, statutory compliance and financial management of similar scale and complexity is expected.
