About the role
The Eastern VACCA Family Violence Therapeutic Program offers support services for Aboriginal community members dealing with trauma from family violence (FV). The Therapeutic Senior Case Manager role involves delivering specialised FV responses, conducting risk assessments, creating a culturally safe environment, and providing timely family support through practical outreach services, including home visits. The role focuses on complex case management, cultural integration, and promoting family reconnection while supporting referrals to other services.
About You
- Awareness and respect for Aboriginal cultures, with an understanding of current issues and the diverse experiences of Aboriginal people.
- Experienced in conducting Child Wellbeing and Family Violence risk assessments, including planning, implementation, and review.
- Strong understanding of how family violence affects Aboriginal families, including the complex factors that influence children and families.
- A Bachelors' in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Family Therapy or a related discipline with Family Violence minimum qualifications policy.
- Knowledge and use of Information Sharing Entities (ISE) and Risk Assessment Entities (RAE), including gathering information from agencies like Courts, Police, Schools, and Child Protection.
- Skilled in engaging and supporting families using strength-based, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Experienced in setting goals and creating timely response plans, including handling crisis situations effectively.
- Able to prepare clear and accurate documents and reports such as case notes, incident reports, family reviews, and assessments.
- Strong communication skills with Aboriginal children, families, and stakeholders, using culturally appropriate and respectful approaches.
- Experience in mentoring and supporting junior staff members.
- Requirements: Comprehensive tier 1 MARAM equivalent; minimum 4 years work experience in case management; valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
