Our client is Australia's largest service provider for Deaf, Deafblind, and hard-of-hearing individuals with over 100 years in the industry. Our client offers a range of services, including Auslan interpreting, NDIS support, aged care, and accredited Auslan education. With offices across Queensland, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, and the Northern Territory, as well as staff nationwide, the organisation is dedicated to empowering Deaf Australians and their families.

They are looking for a Teacher of the Deaf to join their team in Brisbane casually!

This role will involve;

• Provide structured and accessible Auslan tutoring and support strategies to enhance communication skills including listening, speech, language, and play.
• Offer practical guidance and education to adults, children, and families on hearing aid technology, maintenance, and effective usage.
• Recommend and implement age-appropriate resources to support communication, including tailored Auslan materials, and provide advice on engaging with Deaf or Hard of Hearing children.
• Share insights and contribute to the promotion and awareness of Deaf culture across all stakeholders involved in service delivery.
• Establish and maintain effective parent-professional and inter-agency relationships to ensure coordinated, family-centred care and communication outcomes.
• Complete documentation and reporting requirements promptly and accurately, maintaining confidentiality and compliance standards.
• Actively participate in internal meetings and contribute to team initiatives to promote consistency and high-quality service delivery.
• Identify learning needs, pursue relevant training, and apply new knowledge and skills to continuously improve practice

They are looking for candidates with qualifications as a Teacher of the Deaf and a passion for improving quality of life for this community!

The requirements for this role include;

• Fluency in Auslan
• Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching and post graduate qualifications in Deaf education
• Member of National Association of Australian Teachers of the Deaf (NAATD).
• Experience working with children aged 0-6, young people and adults.
• Understanding of atypical or typical childhood development and how this impacts children with a disability or developmental delay
• Knowledge of hearing technology and the Deaf community and providing telepractice.
• Current NDIS Worker Clearance
• Current driver’s license
