The Position:

Further develop your clinical expertise by working alongside many supportive Senior Intensivists as an ICU Registrar or Senior Registrar. The role rotates through day and night shifts.

ICU offers 6 to 12 months accredited training positions for CICM trainees, as well as ACEM, ACCRM and ANZCA trainees.

The hospital’s Intensive Care Unit admits approximately 1,300 adult and paediatric patients annually. It is accredited for 12 months of CICM training, fulfilling requirements in rural, paediatric, trauma, and neurosurgical intensive care. The ICU provides a structured teaching program that includes echocardiography training and comprehensive support for both CICM Part 1 and Part 2 examinations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive care to ICU patients, including admission, management, and discharge, under the supervision of the ICU consultant.
• Participate actively in rapid response calls and trauma team activations.
• Lead regular ICU ward rounds, integrating clinical teaching for a multidisciplinary team.
• Promote and uphold evidence-based clinical practice and effective case management principles.
• Support, supervise, and assess the performance of junior ICU medical and nursing staff.

Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases, General Medicine, Rehabilitation, Oncology, Respiratory Medicine, HITH, Palliative Care, Renal, Endocrinology, Haematology, Neurology, Anaesthetics, ENT, Urology, General Surgery, O&G, Paediatrics & other allied health services.

Eligibility:

1. General, Provisional or limited registration with AHPRA or eligible to obtain
2. IMG’s that have completed at least the AMC MCQ (part 1) or completed both AMC 1 & 2 (clinical exam)
3. IMG’s eligible via the Competent Authority Pathway (training in the UK, USA, NZ, Canada or Ireland)
4. IMG’s assessed by CICM College as partially or substantially comparable
5. Have experience working as an ICU Registrar
