The Department of Health manages the Northern Territory public health system, operating as one system across 5 regions, providing the full spectrum of essential, quality health services, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care across the life course.
As the Clinical Coordinator you are responsible for the day-to-day management of a Remote Health Centre and are responsible for providing specialist clinical care, advice and education to a client group with diverse and/or complex care requirements. You will support the delivery of excellence in nursing/midwifery care by modelling advanced knowledge, skills and behaviours for the provision of client care and working alongside less experienced staff to assist in their further development.
To be successful, you will be an accomplished Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery supported by well-developed clinical decision making. You will have a good understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health, principles of Primary Health Care and relevant legislation governing work practices in a remote health setting. You will also be required to hold current vaccination, remote emergency and maternity emergency certificatation, and have the ability to drive a manual vehicle and travel in 4WD and light aeroplanes.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and promote cooperation is essential.
In addition, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family and community structures, with the ability to communicate and work effectively in a culturally safe manner.
