About the Role
As an Ecologist Advisor, you will lead and support ecohydrology and Environmental Impact Assessment projects, with a focus on riparian vegetation and groundwater-dependent ecosystems. You will conduct field surveys, contribute to innovative assessment methodologies, and engage with internal stakeholders to provide expert advice on biological values. Your work will influence project approvals and support sustainable environmental outcomes across the Pilbara region.
Key Responsibilities
Lead or contribute to ecohydrology and inland water ecosystem projects
Conduct riparian vegetation and targeted ecological surveys
Develop and peer review assessment methods and tools
Perform landform and ecosystem function analysis using remote and field data
Provide biological advice to internal approvals specialists
Collaborate with internal teams and technical experts
Prepare scopes of work, technical reports, and datasets
Build stakeholder relationships and foster a collaborative team culture
Skills and Experience Required
Degree in ecology, botany, hydrology, or environmental science/engineering
Experience in ecological or hydrological projects, ideally in the Pilbara
Knowledge of Pilbara flora and associated field practices
Strong field, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in ArcGIS or similar GIS software
Ability to prioritise and manage complex tasks
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
Valid C Class licence
