About Us, Doña Bertha’s is a vibrant and welcoming Latin American restaurant nestled in the heart of the Gold Coast. Founded by award-winning chef Doña Bertha, who was recognised three times as "Chef of the Month" during her 8 years at The Star (formerly Jupiters), the restaurant has become a cultural hub for the local Latin community and a must-visit for lovers of authentic South American cuisine.

After a year of incredible growth and community support, we’ve moved to a new location – a colorful, joyful, and flavour-packed space that brings the spirit of Latin America to life. We are now looking for a passionate cook to lead our kitchen and help take Doña Bertha’s to the next level.

About the Role As a cook, you will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, leading and training a small team, and ensuring every dish reflects the authentic flavours and love that define our menu. We're looking for someone who can bring leadership, creativity, and deep knowledge of South American cuisine.

What We’re Looking For

Position Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a cook in a commercial kitchen

Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery (mandatory)

Food Handling Skill Set certification (mandatory)

Diploma in Hospitality Management (desirable)

In-depth knowledge of South American cuisine (essential)

Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including split shifts, weekends, and public holidays

Proven ability to manage kitchen operations, mentor junior staff, and uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety

Strong work ethic, reliability, and a genuine passion for cooking

Ability to inspect and assess food quality

Proficient in regulating oven, grill, and other cooking equipment temperatures, as well as handling food in temperature-controlled storage and preparation areas

Skilled in preparing meals to accommodate special dietary requirements

Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
