About the Role

This senior leadership role will be overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of a comprehensive framework for occupational health and safety, WorkCover claims management, industrial relations issues and return-to-work processes.

Duties

Some of the responsibilities will involve;

• Develop and drive the implementation of a WHS and employee wellbeing framework that aligns with the organisation's core values, risk profile, and legal obligations.
• Implement and sustain WHS policies, procedures, and systems that meet the requirements of the organisation
• Lead the management of WHS risk systems across the organisation, including identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, and analysing root causes.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of WorkCover claims, from initial lodgement to ongoing communication with insurers and injured staff, while managing all required documentation.
• Serve as the organisation's Return-to-Work Coordinator, designing and tracking individualised RTW plans that prioritise early intervention and support long-term, successful workplace reintegration.
• Provide expert advice on safety-related IR issues and investigations

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in WHS role at management level.
• Proven ability to develop, implement and maintain WHS
• Strong knowledge of Victorian OHS and workers' compensation legislation
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Previous experience in establishing WHS and IR systems.
• A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Organisational Psychology, or a related field.
• Return-to-Work Certification, or a commitment to obtain it within six months.
  Continuous professional development related to WHS and/or industrial relations.
