About Us

Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is a new public specialist mental health service for young people aged 12 to 25 in Melbourne's north and west. Launched in 2024 and transitioning to full independence in 2025, we are building a vibrant, inclusive service dedicated to the provision of mental health and wellbeing services to young people with complex mental illness in the north and west of metropolitan Melbourne.

The Opportunity:

Our service is made up of compassionate, curious, and committed people. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a skilled and values-aligned Workplace Health, Safety and Employee Wellbeing Manager to help us shape a safe and sustainable workplace for the future.

Why Join PYMHWS?

Help shape a brand-new youth mental health service from the ground up

Be part of a values-driven team where psychological safety and wellbeing are more than just policies

Enjoy flexible work arrangements and a collaborative, progressive culture

Access ongoing professional development and support

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to establish and lead a whole-of-organisation WHS and wellbeing function. As the sole specialist in this portfolio, you will provide both strategic direction and hands-on operational support across workplace health and safety, WorkCover claims, return-to-work coordination, and safety-related industrial relations.

You'll work closely with the Director of People and Communications, Executive leaders, and our workforce to ensure we meet our legislative obligations while building a culture that truly supports psychological safety, physical wellbeing, and fair, inclusive practice.

What You'll Do

Develop and implement PYMHWS's WHS and wellbeing strategy, systems and training

Lead incident management, investigations, risk assessments, and compliance reporting

Manage all WorkCover claims and act as the Return-to-Work Coordinator

Provide expert advice on safety-related IR issues and support a consultative approach to employee wellbeing

Build capability across the workforce through training, coaching and resources

About You

You are a collaborative, proactive leader with a strong background in WHS, return-to-work and injury management. You understand how to balance risk, regulation and compassion in dynamic settings, and you bring a people-first approach to everything you do.

You'll also have:

✔️ Tertiary qualifications in WHS, IR, HR or a related field

✔️ Proven experience in a similar WHS leadership role, ideally in healthcare or community services

✔️ In-depth knowledge of Victorian OHS and WorkCover legislation, and the Fair Work Act

✔️ Demonstrated success managing WorkCover claims and complex return-to-work processes

✔️ Confidence navigating sensitive industrial relations or workplace conduct matters

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you're looking to be part of something truly meaningful—we'd love to hear from you.
