Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people who have experienced trauma? Junction Support Services is seeking a Therapeutic Specialist to join our Therapeutic and Allied Health Services team. In this role, you will provide specialized therapeutic support to children and young people in residential care, focusing on trauma recovery and wellbeing. You will work within a dedicated team to deliver individualized therapeutic interventions, develop support plans, and offer clinical leadership. Your work will involve collaborating closely with carers, professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure that children and young people receive the holistic, trauma-informed care they need to thrive.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting specialized assessments and developing individualized therapeutic support plans.
Providing clinical leadership and secondary consultation to carers and professionals.
Facilitating reflective practice and delivering trauma-informed training.
Engaging in direct therapeutic work with children and young people where appropriate.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent and effective care.
Selection Criteria
To excel in this role, you will need:
A relevant tertiary qualification such as Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, or Counselling and relevant experience to this role.
An understanding of the developmental needs of children and young people, with an ability to apply this knowledge effectively when providing therapeutic support.
Highly developed communication skills and demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direct service in the clinical assessment and treatment of children, young people, and families.
Highly developed ability to provide secondary consultation and advice to other professionals.
Demonstrated knowledge of trauma, attachment and neurobiology frameworks and theories.
Extensive knowledge of family violence and child protection and relevant legislation including MARAM.
