SUMMARY:
Opportunity for a Junior Legal Counsel with 1-3 years’ experience in front-end construction law to join a leading specialist construction organisation in Australia.

THE COMPANY:
This ground engineering company delivers natural hazard mitigation and asset maintenance solutions. With hundreds of employees operating across Australia, and a handful of other countries, the organisation is committed to workplace excellence, and safety.

THE ROLE:

Review and negotiate front-end project documents, including head contracts, subcontracts, consultancy agreements, memorandums of understanding, and supply and services agreements.

Advise on procurement strategy, risk allocation, insurance, and project delivery models.

Conduct legal risk assessments for bids and tenders, identifying departure points and proposing alternative clauses.

Work with the General Counsel and internal teams to resolve domestic and international contractual matters.

Update contract templates, draft negotiation summaries, and support corporate governance, environmental, social and governance (ESG) programs, and compliance obligations.

ABOUT YOU:

At least 1-3 years PQE in front-end construction law in-house or in private practice

Admission as a legal practitioner in Australia.

Familiarity with standard construction forms (e.g. AS, NZS, FIDIC, AIA) is beneficial

Effective communication and negotiation skills with a clear understanding of commercial, contractual, and financial matters

Ability to work closely with internal teams and senior counsel
