About the work unit / facility

The Townsville University Hospital Neonatal Unit provides a tertiary service for North Queensland encompassing both medical and surgical care. The unit also provides a neonatal retrieval/transport service (Advanced Neonatal Transport Service – North Queensland (ANTS-NQ).

  • Salary range: $4138.10 to $4431.10 p.f. (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

About your opportunity

Step into a leadership role as a Clinical Nurse in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. You'll provide expert, hands-on care to our tiniest patients while supporting families and guiding nursing staff in a collaborative, family-centred environment. Be part of a team that's dedicated to delivering best-practice, high-quality care when it matters most.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience within a Tertiary Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, caring for the extremely premature neonate, be proficient all mode of ventilation support/ including high frequency and nitric. Demonstrated experience in shift coordination would be highly desirable.
  • Completion of Neonatal Specific Competencies is mandatory for all nursing staff working within the Neonatal Unit.
  • Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
