The Principal Policy Officer is responsible for the governance, administration and coordination of key emergency management committees, including the State Emergency Management Committee and the Emergency Management Committee of Cabinet. This includes providing strategic policy and briefing support to relevant executives and relevant Ministers to support their attendance at state and national emergency management bodies. The role liaises and coordinates with stakeholders and partners across government and the broader emergency management sector to develop and provide strategic advice on complex emergency management policy issues and projects. While focusing on a particular policy area, they are required to support broader team priorities and lead/support operational activities as needed.
Special Conditions
The Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Management Program.
The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.
Some work outside of normal hours will be required.
Some interstate travel involving overnight absences will be required.
This role requires a National Criminal History check.
The incumbent may be required to participate in the State Crisis Centre and recovery operations, including being on-call and working on a roster.
This role requires a Security Clearance (Negative Vetting Level 1).
