PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Machinist / Fitter is responsible for the manufacture of new and replacement parts for conveyors and purpose-built equipment in a brand new, busy and fast paced Perth workshop .

It is crucial for the Machinist / Fitter to adhere to company procedures and standards. This involves following safety protocols, using the appropriate tools and equipment, and documenting all work performed.

The Machinist / Fitter will be involved in the fit out and installation of new equipment as well as maintenance of existing equipment in the field. Some domestic and interstate travel may be required. Some after hours and weekend work may also be required.

This is primarily an inward facing role:

Inwardly

liaising with the Operations Manager/Project Manager/Workshop Manager/Team Leader

liaising with the Engineering Team

liaising with the Procurement Team

Outwardly

liaising with customers

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Machining components.

Assembling parts.

Quality control of conveyor systems.

At times, you may be required to support the Service Team.

Proactively ensure personal safety and the safety of others by complying with the Company's health and safety policies and procedures.

Ensure that the work is carried out to the Company's technical standards while adhering to agreed Company health and safety standards.

Respectful and appropriate handling of company resources.

Foster an environment of open, honest and respectful communication – particular where risk is concerned.

KEY EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Skills & Experience:

Experience using a lathe, mill, drill press, table saw

Ability to read, interpret drawings

Manual dexterity required for operating machinery

Ability to lift to 15 kg required

Mechanically minded

Experience in fitting out conveyor type systems

Qualifications:

Australian Trade Qualification & Certificates – Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade

White Card

Right to Work in Australia

Current Driver’s Licence

Forklift licence (desirable)

Possess own tools, (some workshop tools provided)
