JOB TITLE
Electronic/Electrical Engineer (Capital Equipment)
JOB SUMMARY
This role will play a key role in maintaining and repairing X-ray and trace detection equipment using hand and power tools as part of a 24/7 rotating shift roster (after 1-2 months of training).
This is a customer-facing role where you’ll interact directly with clients, so being proactive, team-oriented, and eager to share your technical knowledge is essential.
You’ll need to be comfortable working independently and across different shift rotations.

ROLE/DESCRIPTION
Troubleshoot, service, and repair X-ray and trace detection equipment
Carry out preventative maintenance tasks as part of service contracts and schedules
Respond to equipment faults and other corrective maintenance needs, meeting service contract and performance expectations
Use a multimeter, laptop, and inbuilt equipment software to test components and circuitry of X-ray equipment
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronics-related equipment issues (involving 24 volts or less)
Replace mechanical components such as belts, rollers, and motors within X-ray equipment
Handle and move heavy parts with lifting aids
Open and inspect machines, clean, degrease, repair, and replace internal parts
Install new equipment independently or alongside teams, subcontractors, and customers
Complete field service-related reports and documentation
Participate in technical, safety, and compliance training, both online and in-person
Keep your workstation and work environment clean and organised
Respond to customer, vendor, and internal queries in a professional and timely manner
Track and update spare parts usage in the IT software system
Join internal meetings and safety briefings to stay connected with the team
Ensure tools and testing equipment are well-maintained and calibrated
Analyse field service data trends and suggest improvements to processes and equipment
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Help train and support new team members
Promote safe working practices and ensure the safety of the team
Report and escalate issues to senior team members or management when needed
Perform other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role
Experience with fault-finding is essential
Previous experience with medical devices or defence products is preferred
Certificate 3 Trade Qualification or Degree (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic/IT)
Australian driver’s license
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
