Service:

Rehabilitation

Based at the Whyalla Hospital, the Restorative Care service (Rehabilitation Service) is available to clients within the Flinders & Upper North Local Health Network. Clients are assessed by a multi-disciplinary team and participate in an intensive, time bound rehabilitation service that is tailored to their goals and needs. This may be during an inpatient stay in Whyalla or may be through the Ambulatory Rehabilitation program for clients who have discharged home across the health network. Tele-health rehabilitation resources are also used to provide the intensity of Rehabilitation needed. The Rehabilitation service is used for clients after stroke, amputation, deconditioning or other neurological changes like Parkinson’s disease.

About the Role:

Working under the guidance of an experienced Physiotherapist, the Physiotherapist (AHP1) will play an important role in delivering a comprehensive, community-focused range of health services tailored to local needs. As an integral member of a diverse, multi-professional team - including health experts and service providers from various sectors - you’ll apply a proactive blend of prevention, early intervention, therapy, and evaluation strategies to help improve the health and wellbeing of the community. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to grow your skills while making a real impact alongside a supportive team.

The Regional Physiotherapist (AHP2) plays a vital role in delivering expert, compassionate care tailored to the unique needs of the local community. Drawing on a blend of broad and specialist clinical expertise, you will design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive range of physiotherapy services that truly make a difference. With increasing autonomy, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor and guide less experienced allied health professionals, assistants, and students, shaping the future of care. As a key member of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team - including health professionals and community service providers - you’ll use a proactive mix of prevention, early intervention, therapy, and ongoing assessment to improve patient outcomes and promote wellness across the region.

About You:

  • Must hold a recognised qualification within the Physiotherapist profession and be eligible for full membership of the Australian Physiotherapy Professional Association.

AHP1:

  • Provide a broad range of clinical services using established methods, procedures, and standards.
  • Exercise professional judgment with guidance from a Clinical Senior to verify methods and results.
  • Deliver straightforward clinical services, including one-on-one, group, and health promotion activities.
  • Manage and prioritize personal workload effectively.

AHP2:

  • Apply expertise and clinical skills to provide services in complex situations.
  • Use professional judgment to adapt methods and procedures.
  • Offer clinical and consultative services across various settings.
  • Manage workload and support team resource allocation.
