About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Physiotherapy Department as a Neurodevelopmental/Neonatal Physiotherapist, where you will be responsible for:

  • Development, co-ordination and implementation of high-quality physiotherapy services to children with neurological, neurosurgical, and neurodevelopmental needs and their families.
  • Provision of a comprehensive physiotherapy service which results in safe, efficient and evidence-based care of these patients.
  • Management of caseloads of complex neonatal and paediatric inpatients and outpatients.
  • Contributing to staff orientation, teaching, support, and supervision, and providing support to the Head of Unit, Neurodevelopmental Physiotherapy.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
  • Completed (or intend to complete) Basic Prechtl’s Method of General Movements training.
  • Ability to ensure the provision and promotion of high quality, efficient and effective neuro-developmental Physiotherapy services across the 0-18 year age group.
  • Ability to appropriately position and handle babies to promote optimal neuro-developmental outcomes.
  • Sensitivity in dealing with families coping with unexpected and adverse outcomes.
  • Experience in paediatric physiotherapy (particularly in neurological/neurosurgical and neuro-developmental physiotherapy), including acute care assessment and ongoing outpatient management of neonates, infants, and preschool aged children.
  • Experience in the early detection of neurological and developmental issues and the facilitation of appropriate early intervention.
