Financial Accountant
Location: Bayswater, VIC
Salary: Up to $140k salary package
Our client is a well-established Design & Construct (D&C) fit out and interiors specialist, with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality commercial, office, medical, hospitality, industrial, and retail projects across Victoria. With continued business growth and a strong pipeline of work (monthly turnover of $1M+), they are now looking to appoint a Financial Accountant to join their close-knit team.
This is an in-office role, but the business is open to flexible work hours such as 9:00 am – 3:30 pm or a 9-day fortnight, making it an excellent opportunity for a parent returning to the workforce or someone looking for meaningful work-life balance. Key Responsibilities:
This is a diverse, hands-on finance role encompassing all facets of bookkeeping, financial reporting, and strategic business support. Your key tasks will include:
- Full-function Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Entering of supplier invoices into company accounting system for COGS & Expenses
- Manage all building contracts for projects.
- Management and reconciliation of ongoing service charges
- BAS, Payroll Tax, and statutory reporting (Quarterly)
- Assist with the preparation of budgets including setting up within Netsuite.
- Budget preparation and financial forecasting
- Month-end management reporting and EOY financial reporting support
- Asset management and depreciation schedules
- Project/job costing analysis, margin reviews, and cost-saving identification
- Debtor management and liaising with internal project and sales teams
- Streamline monthly reporting processes to deliver management reports by 10th of the month.
- Supporting setup and bookkeeping for other business entities (e.g., SMSFs, Unit Trusts)
- Acting as a financial advisor to the GM for process improvement and profitability
About You:
- Minimum 7 years' experience in a finance/accounting role
- Previous experience in the Construction industry is essential
- Strong project/job costing skills – able to analyse margins and recommend cost-saving strategies
- Experienced in both Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Proficient with accounting systems; NetSuite experience is advantageous
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
