As a key member of the Marine Fleet Services team, this role is critical to supporting the assurance that all marine fleet are maintained and operated in a safe and effective manner. This critical role will be responsible for conducting site visits to QPS marine operations conducting safety and compliance audits and inspections supporting compliance with domestic commercial vessel, safety, and environmental regulations.
Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders within the Queensland Police Service's Water Police, Marine Rescue Queensland and State Emergency Services administration and operational areas.
- Develop and maintain a program for marine compliance, quality, safety and environmental audits and inspections across all three operations.
- Plan, facilitate and administer site inspections to be conducted by both internal and external representatives supporting a proactive safety culture across all key areas of marine operations including sites, offices, vehicles, vessels and their berthing facilities.
- Attend operational locations and vessels for both planned (audit and inspection) and unplanned (incident investigation) responsibilities. Locations include QPS Water Police, SES and MRQ operational sites within the state of Queensland.
- Document and report site visit intervention findings. Maintain detailed records of audits and site inspections, including non-conformities, risks, and areas of improvement. Prepare audit reports and present them to management.
- Provide ongoing support in the administration of regulatory compliance requirements of the marine fleet including certification, safety, training, audit, and inspection.
- Research and report safety performances; benchmarking against both QPS and national marine rescue and policing services.
- Work with the Manager Marine Safety & Compliance in the ongoing development and improvement of documented management systems.
Role Requirements
Mandatory -
- Possess a current Queensland class ‘C' driver's license of equivalent.
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience -
- Experience in the domestic marine industry fleet in either technical, operational, safety or compliance roles
Other -
- ISM Auditor qualifications would be considered beneficial
- Internal quality, safety and environmental auditor qualification would be highly desirable
