Our client is seeking a hands-on and experienced Senior Maintenance Technician to take charge of maintenance operations at their Richmond food production facility. This full-time, permanent role is responsible for conducting preventative maintenance, attending to equipment breakdowns, welding and general mechanical repairs, and ensuring the smooth, safe, and reliable operation of site machinery and infrastructure.
You’ll work closely with the production and operations teams to minimise downtime, support new equipment installations, and contribute to a strong safety culture across the plant.

Key Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled servicing and inspections across machinery, plant, and site infrastructure to ensure continued safe and efficient operation.
Breakdowns & Repairs: Respond to machinery breakdowns, carry out fault diagnosis, and complete mechanical repairs in a timely manner.
Welding & Fabrication: Conduct welding (MIG, TIG, Arc) and basic fabrication to support maintenance and repair work.
Site Safety & Compliance: Proactively identify hazards and risks, follow all OH&S policies, and contribute to a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate records of maintenance activities using CMMS or similar systems.
Equipment Installation: Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and modifications to existing machinery.
Inventory & Tools: Monitor and manage critical spare parts and workshop tools, ensuring availability and organisation.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with production staff to coordinate maintenance tasks and minimise disruption to operations.
Working Hours
38 hours per week, full-time
Shifts may vary between 5:00am and 12:00am (flexibility required)
Some Saturday PM work may be required (with a weekday off in lieu)
Overtime available subject to approval (paid at ordinary rate or taken as time-in-lieu)
Qualifications & Experience
Trade qualified in mechanical fitting or maintenance (e.g. Cert III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade)
Proven experience in a Maintenance Technician or Mechanical Fitter role within a production or factory environment
Welding and fabrication skills essential (certification or competency required)
Ability to read technical drawings and use maintenance manuals
Experience using CMMS/preventative maintenance systems
Forklift licence, EWP ticket, and White Card desirable
Valid Australian driver’s licence
