About Alice Springs Hospital
Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) is Central Australia’s primary acute care service with a catchment area of approximately 50,000 residents across Alice Springs and up to 50 remote community locations. It is a 209 bed faciality and specialises in general and emergency medicine, surgical, maternity and paediatric services with a 10-bed intensive care unit and renal dialysis centre.
The Role
As a Social Worker, you will provide high quality culturally appropriate, effective, and contemporary Social Work assessment and intervention services to meet the needs of patients, their families and significant others throughout Alice Springs Hospital.
Working as part of the front-line Allied Health team you’ll provide both inpatient and outpatient services, participate in the after-hours Social Work Services roster and supervise Social Work students and junior staff.
About you
You’re a compassionate and skilled Social Worker who thrives in diverse clinical settings. To be successful in this role you will have:
Relevant qualification in Social Work and be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Clinical post graduate experience providing Social Work services and as a member of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
Demonstrated Social Work knowledge with the ability to apply theoretical frameworks for interventions in the areas of trauma, crisis, illness adjustment, loss and grief.
Commitment to continuing professional development, knowledge of the Social Work Code of Ethics, legislation and codes relevant to practice in a health setting.
Proven knowledge of cultural and cross-cultural issues affecting services and the ability to apply this when working with patients, their families and carers.
Proven ability to plan and prioritise a high-volume complex workload
