About headspace
headspace are a busy and innovative youth mental health service providing a variety of mental health, medical, sexual and other health related services as well as vocational, functional groups and social services to young people aged 12 to 25 years and their families.
About the Opportunity
As Peer Support Worker, you will draw on your lived experience of mental health challenges, recovery, navigating mental health services and barriers accessing education and work, to provide meaningful support to young people and their families in collaboration with their treating team. You will contribute to the development and co-facilitation of Peer Support Groups and take part in Community Engagement events to deliver educational opportunities, reduce stigma around mental ill-health, and serve as a positive role model for young people.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Lived experience as a young person with mental health challenges and as someone having lived experience of seeking work and study is essential.
- Confidence to utilise and share your lived experience accessing support for mental health difficulties and the experience of gaining and maintaining employment or further study with young people through the delivery of peer support work
- Passion for working with young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people culturally and linguistically diverse or LGBTQIA+ young people and their families.

Please note: It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role, you must provide 100 points of identification to confirm Australian citizenship or eligibility to work in Australia; possess a Working with Children (Ochre Card), a current National Criminal History Check (within 3 months) and a valid NT driver’s licence.
Experience of working closely with and having a strong understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture would be considered an advantage.
