Mental Health Social Worker – Alice Springs

📍 Location: Alice Springs | 🕒 Full Time – 38 hours/week

The North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA) is looking for a Mental Health Social Worker to join our specialist team supporting Aboriginal clients involved in the criminal justice system.

About the Role

Based in Alice Springs, you’ll work closely with lawyers, health services, and support networks to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed support to clients navigating the court system. You’ll:

• Develop bail and sentencing plans alongside lawyers

• Advocate for client wellbeing through court support and referral pathways

• Support post-release reintegration with housing, mental health, and disability services

• Build strong community and stakeholder networks

• Promote systemic change by identifying service gaps and contributing to policy and law reform

This is a dynamic, rewarding role at the intersection of mental health, justice, and community advocacy.

Who We’re Looking For

✔ A qualified Social Worker eligible for AASW membership and clinical supervision

✔ Experience working with Aboriginal clients and an understanding of cultural safety

✔ Knowledge of the NT legal and mental health systems

✔ Strong case management, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement skills

✔ A passion for working in a social justice context
