Migration law opportunities

  • Contribute to an innovative approach to justice
  • Challenging and rewarding legal roles with competitive remuneration packages
  • Superannuation contributions of 15.4% and flexible working arrangements among other benefits

The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) (Court) is the biggest and busiest court in the federal judicial system, having broad jurisdiction across areas including family law, migration, bankruptcy, fair work, administrative law, intellectual property and consumer law. Sitting in all capital cities, the Court comprises 87 judges, hundreds of legal, social science and related support staff, and has the largest proportion of migration filings in the federal jurisdiction.

We are now recruiting for a National Legal Officer to assist the Court’s National Migration Team as well as Associates to support specialist Judicial Registrars working in the migration jurisdiction. We are looking for young lawyers, recent law graduates or final year law students who are committed to delivering increased access to justice by ensuring the timely flow of migration cases through the Court.

Associates play a critical role by supporting Judicial Registrars in the exercise of their delegated powers and conducting legal research and analysis including migration law jurisprudence.

National Legal Officers who work within the Court’s National Migration Team are instrumental in the allocation and case management of migration matters, including pro bono referrals.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in, and influence, important migration-related case management reforms that will improve access to justice and reduce delays.

Successful applicants will receive the opportunity to work as part of a diverse, collaborative national team and are eligible to receive attractive remuneration packages in the range of $97,199 – $105,948 per annum, including 15.4% superannuation.
