Your role at St John of God Murdoch Hospital
You will be responsible for the overall coordination of the anaesthetic service and promote the development of excellence in the delivery of anaesthetic care in the Operating Suite.
We have 18 main operating theatres, angio suite, endoscopy unit and Surgicentre. You will be exposed to the latest in surgical technology, including robotics, and work with some of the highest calibre surgeons in Australia who are usually based onsite in our consulting suites. Our Main Theatre currently have a permanent full-time position working 38 hours per week. All applications will be considered for positions that become available over the next six months.
The Position
- Promote the development and maintenance of excellence in the delivery of anaesthetic care in the Operating Suite.
- In conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Manager Anaesthetics, Clinic Nurse - Anaesthetics and Theatre Coordinator, ensure appropriate anaesthetic staff allocation to the theatres to meet unit needs and productivity goals.
- Act in the role of Anaesthetic Support person, supporting and assisting in education and troubleshooting with equipment.
- Act in a clinical role as per Anaesthetics Technician's position description.
- Demonstrate effective leadership and enhances customer service among internal and external customers.
- Represent the area at appropriate committees.
- Assist with the ongoing Performance Reviews and Development plans of all anaesthetic caregivers.
- Liaise with the Clinical Educator in developing and delivering education and supporting professional development in the area of anaesthetics to all caregivers.
- Act as an educational resource and mentors junior and trainee assistants to the anaesthetist.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Review resource usage in the department and recommends changes for greater efficiency where applicable.
- In conjunction with appropriate others troubleshoots technical issues, and organises for repair if necessary.
- Actively contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures for anaesthetics.
You will hold substantial demonstrated experience as an anaesthetic technician with sound knowledge of anaesthetic related procedures and equipment.
With a high-level written and verbal communication skills you will have the ability to lead, motivate self and colleagues to work effectively in a team. Liaising with staff at all levels, you will have well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
To succeed you will possess a Diploma of Anaesthetic Technology/Diploma of Paramedical Science (Anaesthesia) with commitment to quality improvement principles. Relevant recent acute anaesthetic experience in an Operating Suite, Day Services Unit or Day Procedure Unit is essential to the role.

- Salary: $103,414 to $106,698 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation
