St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital is a 205-bed facility that offers a wide range of services, caring for inpatients and day patients across a range of specialties including maternity, medical and surgical, rehabilitation and older adult mental health services.
Your role at St John of God Mount Lawley Hospital
The Perioperative Services Department are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Orthopaedic Technician to resource orthopaedic equipment as required and requested in liaison with the Theatre Resources Coordinator.
The position is offered on a permanent full time basis.
The Position
- Ensure excellent patient care, through the development and provision of Orthopaedic Resources.
- Constantly liaise and communicate with Surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, technical and support caregivers regarding procedures, patient positioning and related equipment.
- Oversee and coordinate administrative planning and liaison with company representatives, surgeons and Central Sterilisation Services Department (CSSD) with regards to loan orthopaedic instruments etc. under the direction of the Theatre Resources Coordinator.
- Daily oversight, including coordination of ordering, delivery and receipt of consignment/loan instrumentation with Surgeons, Company Representatives, CSSD and Theatre Resources Coordinator or Nurse Unit Manager.
- Identify and acquire loan equipment and materials in liaison with the Theatre Resources Coordinator for specific orthopaedic procedures and ensuring that equipment is available for orthopaedic lists prior to commencing.
- In conjunction with the Theatre Resources Coordinator and Perioperative Services Nurse Manager, develop competencies for Orthopaedic Technicians and assesses Caregivers against competencies.
- In conjunction with the Theatre Resources Coordinator and Perioperative Services Nurse Manager, is responsible for the education of Trainee Orthopaedic Technicians.
You will have demonstrated Orthopaedic surgery experience in an acute setting with an advanced knowledge of Orthopaedic equipment and application.
To succeed you will have a demonstrated commitment to quality patient care and the ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the multi-disciplinary health care team, with a commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
A formal Theatre Technician qualification will be highly regarded.

- Salary: $85,973 to $88,329 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation
