The Opportunity

As a Senior Accountant, you will be a key member of our finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. This role offers a unique blend of technical accounting, project engagement, and financial leadership. You'll work closely with project teams and business unit leaders to ensure accuracy, compliance, and performance insights that help drive strategic decision-making.

What You'll Be Doing

General Accounting

Prepare and review monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).

Manage month-end and year-end close including journals, accruals, and reconciliations.

Conduct financial analysis to identify risks, trends, and opportunities.

Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant tax legislation.

Support annual budget and forecasting processes in partnership with project and department leads.

Maintain and reconcile ledgers, AP/AR, payroll journals, and fixed asset registers.

Project Accounting

Perform project-based revenue recognition (AASB 15).

Reconcile revenue throughout the project lifecycle and manage retention tracking.

Oversee project cashflow forecasts and consolidated financial outlooks.

Support compliance activities including trust account oversight and audit preparation.

Act as system administrator for financial and cost management platforms.

Management & Financial Reporting

Prepare accurate and timely monthly management reports with commentary.

Manage lease accounting in accordance with AASB 16.

Lead year-end audit preparations and reconciliation packs.

Deliver meaningful financial insights to enhance business performance.

Treasury & Compliance

Support daily cashflow forecasting and banking relationships.

Prepare regulatory submissions (BAS, TPAR, FBT, income tax).

Provide documentation for company secretarial and governance requirements.

Process & Systems Improvement

Contribute to the development and refinement of finance systems and reporting tools.

Support ongoing innovation in data integrity, automation, and analytics.

Champion continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes.

About You

We’re looking for a commercially focused, detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in dynamic environments and builds strong relationships across all levels of the business.

You’ll bring:

CPA or CA qualification (or working towards).

5+ years’ experience in accounting, ideally in a project or multi-entity business environment.

Solid knowledge of AASB standards, compliance, and financial reporting.

Experience with accounting platforms such as MYOB Advanced, Xero, or ERP systems.

Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills.

A proactive, curious mindset with a drive for innovation and continuous improvement.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
