Full Job Description – For the Main body
Our client a national Not-For-Profit in the education sector have engaged us on retainer to find the newest member of their Engineering team. This permanent role, reporting to the IT Engineering Team Leader, would see you bring extensive Azure Cloud experience and ideally previous experience migrating on prem applications into a cloud based environment to the team. In addition you would have reasonable experience with Hyper V virtual servers and Intune.

What will you be doing?
Actively protect information systems and technology environments from security breaches and threats, from both internal and external sources.
Development and testing of robust disaster recovery plans.
Where possible deliver fault tolerance and redundancy within group systems.
Maximise uptime of group networks, servers and information systems.
Create and edit infrastructure monitoring sensors and structures within the monitoring platforms.
Actively monitor and remediate infrastructure sensors from group monitoring platforms.
Implement risk minimisation / mitigation procedures for all system modification and IT project work.
Proactive scaling of the group wide area network, IaaS and SaaS solutions as well as self-hosted server infrastructure to meet the demands of the organisation, including rapid growth.
Undertake infrastructure and application benchmarking to ensure group Information Services Platform remains fit for purpose.
Identify opportunities to increase group IT Department and business efficiencies through automation, and Group Policy development.
Manage relationships and support calls with vendors (e.g. Managed Service Providers, Hardware /Software Vendors).
Proactively resolve incidents through active and accurate infrastructure monitoring to avoid wide-spread problems and outages.
Resolution of IT Helpdesk tickets that have been escalated to the IT Engineering Team within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Work on and effectively prioritise multiple technical projects and project tasks to limit work in progress and bring projects to completion.
Document and report on project work through a centralized project management system.
Assist other IT Team members in project delivery through completion of group IT System related project tasks as required.
Identify opportunities to reduce operational IT expenditure.
Development and maintenance of high level as well as systems specific diagrams and documentation.
Development and maintenance of internal IT technical documentation.
Development of end user documentation where required.
IT Asset Management (ITAM) - Accurate tracking of hardware and software assets within the Group.
Comply with all relevant Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment is maintained. Abide by company procedures for identifying and reporting of potential hazards
Always protect information relating to customers, employees and our business. This includes complying with the IT Acceptable Use Policy and any other related IT, records or information security policies or directions
Practice good digital security by reporting information and\or cyber security incidents, protecting physical equipment and handling information according to its classification
What will you bring to the role?
Expert knowledge of TCP / IP networking, routing protocols and DNS principles.
Demonstrated skills and experience in supporting Cloud
High level knowledge of the Microsoft server environment and Active Directory management.
High level knowledge and enterprise experience in development, testing and deployment of Windows network configuration via Microsoft Group Policy.
High level knowledge of Microsoft Powershell to administer Microsoft server based systems and applications.
Ability to administer corporate level LAN, Wi-Fi and WAN solutions.
High level knowledge of Mail flow and Mail Server management.
High level knowledge of network security, e.g. UTM, DMZ and firewall solutions.
Experienced in administration of numerous server operating systems and hypervisor including but not limited to Linux / UNIX, Windows, VMware / Hyper-V.
Recent experience with storage systems (NAS/SAN) and related technologies.
Previous experience Backup solutions eg Veeam, Rubrik.
Previous experience administering environments containing large numbers of users across multiple Active Directory domains, cross-forest trusts and Windows Server platforms.
Demonstrated experience in implementing and supporting cloud solutions, IaaS and/or SaaS administration, including but not limited to Office 365, AWS, Azure and Salesforce.
Previous experience in infrastructure monitoring, benchmarking and proactive incident resolution.
Some programming / scripting / coding capability.
Previous administration of large scale environments for a medium to large organisation.
