About the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI)

Recognised internationally for excellence in translational research, NARI builds evidence to improve health and aged care systems, policies, and practices that promote the health, wellbeing, and quality of life of older people.

Our vision is a world where all older people are respected, included, and have the opportunity to age well. Guided by our core values—Excellence, Collaboration, Inclusion, and Integrity—we work in partnership with the NARI Community Advisory Panel, older people, carers, communities, and stakeholders to ensure our research is relevant, meaningful, and impactful.

NARI’s research spans five key program areas organised within two divisions:

  • Research that supports healthy ageing including preventative and early intervention programs
  • Research to reduce the morbidity and mortality of conditions associated with ageing.
  • Research that enhances paid and unpaid carers' skills, knowledge, confidence, health and well-being, and quality of life.
  • Research that improves health and aged care systems, processes and practices.
  • Research that addresses societal issues associated with ageing.

About the role

  • Lead and manage research projects
  • Produce high-quality research outputs, including peer-reviewed publications, reports, and presentations.
  • Translate research findings into practice and policy
  • Present research at national and international conferences, forums, and stakeholder events.
  • Engage with NARI’s Community Advisory Panel and support consumer and community involvement in research.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including community members, aged care providers, policymakers, and academic partners.
  • Represent NARI in collaborative networks and contribute to cross-organisational initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and strategic direction of the Division and the Institute.

The Research Fellows will be based within either the Social Gerontology or Clinical Gerontology Division of the Institute depending on their expertise and alignment with NARI’s research priorities.
