We are excited to announce an opening for a Data Engineer to join DE International in Student Support and Specialists Program directorate within the Teaching, Learning and Student Wellbeing (TLSW) division.
- Location: Eveleigh with access to flexible working arrangements available
- Salary: $97,027 to $100,086 per annum, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
- Ongoing: full-time opportunity.

About the directorate
The Student Support and Specialist Programs directorate is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of state-wide services and specialist programs to support student engagement and opportunities including Arts, Sport, Community Languages and International programs.
The Child Wellbeing and Mental Health Services team focuses on the delivery of student support services including support for students in the areas of mental health, wellbeing and complex needs.
The Assisted School Travel Program provides transportation services for students with additional needs from home to school and back to ensure all students are able to access education in NSW public schools. Student opportunities across all areas are enhanced through partnerships with industry specialists and stakeholders.
About the role
This role is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining data models and ETL processes to support decision-making and strategic planning across a range of programs, including student management and international education.

Key knowledge and experience
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant Information Technology discipline or extensive demonstrated experience
- Experience in complex data engineering skills and working knowledge of data warehousing technologies
- Extensive experience with the development, data extraction, and maintenance of structured and non-structured databases
- Experience in building innovative stories in BI tools to identify and communicate business insights to support effective decision-making
- Experience in using visualisation tools
- Experience in working with student management systems and databases is advantageous
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements:
- Hold a current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment (or willing to acquire one)
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
