We’re seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Finance Officer – Grants to join our team. In this key role, you’ll be responsible for managing the financial aspects of grants and subsidised schemes, liaising with government departments, granting authorities, and external auditors. You'll prepare grant acquittals and contribute to the Annual Financial Statements, ensuring accuracy in the administration of grants, assets, and expenditure. Proficiency in financial systems and document management is essential, along with the ability to ensure transactions are accurately costed within Finance One. About the role:
- Manage financial aspects of grants and subsidised schemes, including preparation of grant acquittals and liaison with government departments and granting authorities.
- Support the preparation of Annual Financial Statements, specifically Notes relating to grants, assets, and expenditure.
- Ensure accurate general ledger costings within the Finance One financial system.
- Maintain compliance with record management requirements using Council’s Record Management System.
- Perform additional finance-related duties as directed, within the scope of the role, skills, and training.

We are seeking:
- A candidate with a Certificate qualification in Business or substantial experience in accounting, particularly in grants, assets, payroll, stores, and bank reconciliations.
- Proficiency in using Corporate Accounting and Payroll Systems, along with strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Solid understanding of financial procedures, cost accounting principles, and the ability to monitor and report on expenditure and income.
- Basic knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and experience in preparing grant acquittals and audit-ready financial schedules.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team, with proven supervisory capability.

Where it's located:
This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
