The Mackay Hospital Expansion Project at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Principal Project Officer (Clinical Nurse Consultant) to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity

The Clinical Nurse Consultant is an employee who is a registered nurse who:

  • Is appointed to an advanced practice nursing position; and
  • Demonstrates a specialised clinical expertise and/or specialised skill set.

About the Team

In July 2022, the Queensland Government announced a $250million funding commitment to carry out the Mackay Hospital Expansion Project (MHEP). This vital infrastructure project, which is being expedited as part of the Statewide Capital Expansion Program (CEP), will deliver an additional 128 inpatient beds for the Mackay Base Hospital (MBH). The core objectives/benefits of the MHEP are:

  • Equitable local access to health services by the community for acute, sub-acute, women's, children's, and neonatal services.
  • Improved clinical workflows and new models of care which are better aligned with the changing needs of the community.
  • Enhanced patient flow, safety, and outcomes through enhanced functional adjacencies and contemporary infrastructure.
