The Role
Defence Finance Group (DFG) is seeking experienced and enthusiastic finance professionals to join the Navy Finance team for current vacancies in Canberra.
The EL 1 Assistant Director Finance is a customer-facing role leading a number of small and dynamic teams in the provision of strategic financial services to key clients, both uniformed and civilian. The Assistant Director Finance will also assist clients in the identification of financial risks and opportunities, understanding of cost drivers and impacts on capability, and achievement of End of Financial Year outcomes.
You will have diverse financial experience and skills and be an emerging leader who is committed to helping senior leaders and clients deliver outcomes through your strategic advice and the provision of accurate, timely and high quality financial information.
You will have sound experience leading and developing a team, and have a naturally influential communication style. You will translate financial information and strategy into business outcomes and create a shared sense of purpose. You are a skilled planner who takes a strategic outlook when aligning team activities to organisational goals and your stakeholder’s objectives.
About our Team
DFG is a key enabler in Defence and works in partnership with Groups and Services to deliver high quality budget and financial management outcomes through the provision of policies, processes, services, systems and advice. Our embedded finance business partners provide financial support and advice to Navy Group and to the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group.
DFG delivers financial insight to inform decision-making in support of Defence’s mission and objectives. They advise and partner with Groups and Services on budget and financial matters to protect and support the organisation through the application of appropriate financial controls and assurance.
