About the position

Frankston City Council is looking for an innovative and strategic Community Engagement Officer to strengthen and embed inclusive and accessible community engagement practices across our City, to ensure Council achieves greater participation and trust from our diverse community.

Council’s Community Relations Department is looking for a Community Engagement Officer who will play a pivotal role in:
- Embedding meaningful community engagement across the organisation, in accordance with our Community Engagement Policy and Framework
- Ensuring community engagement processes are inclusive and evidence-based, in accordance with Council’s community engagement principles.
- Guiding and inspiring others to adopt best-practice approaches and making sure community voices are heard – and acted on.
About you
This opportunity is for you if you love to think laterally and innovate to connect and hear from diverse communities. You'll be a person adept at working with a creative team to make best use of technology to engage the community and generate insights. There'll be space and support for you to identify solutions, build organisational capability and lead cultural change.
You'll have:
- A tertiary qualification in a related discipline with experience in community engagement, or lesser qualification with extensive relevant experience.
- Experience in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating complex community engagement in a multi-disciplinary organisation, preferably in local government.
- Ability to engage and build effective partnerships with communities and stakeholders, including influencing, training and coaching to achieve organisational objectives.
- Demonstrated experience delivering diverse and inclusive online and in-person community engagement activities.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, research and writing skills for detailed reports and data analysis, to support and strengthen Council decision-making

This position is a Band 6 currently remunerated at $98,130.72 per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid for weekend and evening community engagement work.
