Gayner Technical Services is a small software company specialising in the development of systems that cross between custom software, firmware, real-time monitoring and industrial automation.

We are working with some of the largest companies in Australia to provide systems for environmental management, mining, gas, civil infrastructure and renewable energy sectors.

We are looking for a Software Engineer/Developer to join our team.

We are commonly using Python, Zig, C, Elixir & Javascript/Vue and various proprietary environments for industrial control equipment. However we will always choose the correct tool for the job.

The candidate will perform the following tasks:

Develop software systems using our chosen programming languages & frameworks

Development work will be performed in all areas including the front-end, back-end, device level configuration, data analysis, firmware and networking

Contribute to the creation of new software designs and take responsibility for successful implementation

Provide high level customer service to ensure that our software deployments are strongly supported

A good fit candidate will:

Be open to receiving constructive criticism from all members of the team and work toward providing constructive criticism to others

Take direct responsibility for ensuring the success of deployments. We have software that is critical to our customers operations and this requires a high standard of work and customer support

Communicate on topics ranging from software engineering philosophy and design, linux, computer operations & networking, device configuration and electronics

Use common development tools such as version control systems, development environments and auxiliary tooling

Not provide mountains of AI generated garbage

Be able to communicate regularly and confidently with our supportive clients

Be able to work on-site in industrial environments as required. You will be subjected to drug and alcohol testing during on-site work periods

Be an Australian citizen

Be proficient in English

The role will be full-time onsite at our office in Redhead NSW (Lake Macquarie). Remote work not available.

Pay will be open for negotiation and will be based on successful applicants experience and expected outcomes.
