About the Role

The Service Manager – Community Care Unit plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the delivery of a contemporary, recovery-oriented 20-bed residential mental health service. This service supports adults with complex mental health needs requiring intensive rehabilitation for up to 18 months. Working in partnership with Cyrenian House and the Public Mental Health Service, you will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care, maintain compliance with all relevant standards, manage key stakeholder relationships, and foster a strong, person-centred service culture.

Service Delivery & Program Oversight

  • Lead the delivery of a person-centred, recovery-focused program in line with Richmind WA’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure service compliance with contractual obligations, clinical guidelines, and licensing requirements.
  • Coordinate internal operations to meet service targets, accreditation standards, and client outcomes.
  • Implement and lead cultural and organisational change initiatives to improve service delivery.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Provide ongoing leadership, supervision, and performance management for team members.
  • Conduct recruitment, onboarding, and professional development activities.
  • Support a positive team culture based on collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Manage employee grievances and disciplinary actions in line with organisational policy.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with Cyrenian House, the Public Mental Health Service, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent Richmind WA in networks, committees, and working groups.
  • Foster internal collaboration with other service managers and organisational departments.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Oversee service budgets, ensure responsible expenditure, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Provide timely reports and updates to senior leadership on service performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support the development and review of policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Strategic Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the organisation’s strategic goals and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support service innovation and best practice through data-driven decision-making and self-audit processes.
  • Lead internal projects and participate in organisational planning activities.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need to have;

Qualifications and Certificates

  • Relevant degree in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing or similar human services field.
  • Current National Police Clearance Certificate (no older than six months)
  • A valid First Aid and CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • A current working with Children Check
  • A valid Driver’s licence

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in leading teams within mental health, AOD, or related services.
  • Proven experience in program delivery, compliance, and stakeholder relationship management.
  • Strong understanding of change management and quality improvement processes.
  • Adaptive leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Process driven, with an understanding of clinical governance
  • Financial literacy and experience managing program budgets.
  • High emotional intelligence and resilience.
  • Culturally competent and inclusive practice, especially in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Alignment with the values and purpose of Richmind WA.

Desirable

  • Lived experience of mental health recovery or as family members of people with a lived experience of recovery is desirable

Attitude

  • Positive attitude towards people experiencing mental distress.
  • The ability to live RW values in all workplace tasks and interactions.
  • Pro-active individual who is enthusiastic and committed to upholding RW values and principles

This role is full-time working Monday to Friday.

On-call rotation responsibilities is part of the role every 5-6 weeks. On-call swings are 4 or 3 nights.
