Council is seeking a suitably qualified and proactive applicant to fill the permanent full-time role of Community Safety Officer.
Here is some of what you will be doing:
Investigating and acting on allegations of unauthorised development, land use, building work, overgrown properties, dilapidated structures, environmental issues, illegal dumping and parking related matters.
Undertake Swimming Pool Safety Barrier Inspections
Using your investigative skills to resolve non-compliance issues
Liaising with various teams to promote compliance and ensure optimal outcomes
Engaging with the public and stakeholders, building strong relationships to effectively manage matters and deliver positive customer experiences
Producing accurate and detailed reports, notices, and statements of evidence
Reporting directly to the Manager Corporate & Customer Experience you will support Broken Hill City Council in playing a key role in the functions of community safety and legislative compliance; implementing Local Government Regulations and all other associated Acts, Regulations and Council policy.
The successful candidate will have proven ability to communicate well with others, have high level written and verbal communications skills and sound computer literacy skills.
A key component of the position will be to enhance Council’s public image and improve customer experience through responsive and effective liaison with the community, businesses and other stakeholders, adopting a consistent approach of compliance prior to enforcement and ensuring that the work you do is valued, both within Council and by the community.
