About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Marketing Assistant to support the delivery of inclusive, engaging marketing initiatives that strengthen community connection and build awareness of GCT. This role contributes to social media, events, media relations, advertising, design, and website content—ensuring consistent storytelling and meaningful engagement across all channels.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or emerging professional looking to kickstart their career in marketing.

You will have lots of variety in your day-to-day work performance, with your primary duties including but not limited to:

Assisting with developing and implementing engaging and platform-specific content strategies for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Google My Business.

Aligning content and campaign activity with the Marketing Plan and broader strategic objectives.

Creating high-quality, on-brand social media content that resonates with target audiences and complements web content to ensure a cohesive online presence.

Supporting the planning, promotion and delivery of community, seasonal and educational events.

Drafting media releases, public notices, and community updates in consultation with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator.

Supporting advertising across digital and print channels, contributing to message development and design.

Assisting in the creation and coordination of marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, signage, and presentations.

Monitoring basic website analytics to identify areas for improvements.

About You

Strong phone-based communication and listening skills

The ability to manage difficult or emotional conversations with care

Attention to detail and accurate data entry skills

A team player mindset and a high level of personal integrity

Experience in a phone-based or admin support role (ideal but not essential)

A genuine desire to support others in a meaningful way

You'll Also Need

Tertiary qualifications in either marketing, communication, public relations and/or equivalent qualifications and experience.

Excellent communication, writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt to reach different audiences.

Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.

Strong knowledge of social media platforms and best practices.

Experience in social media management, content creation or digital marketing.

A creative mindset with the ability to generate fresh content ideas.

Proactive and positive attitude, with the desire to work collaboratively.

Current Australian driver's licence.

Based in Geelong.
