Salary Range: $110,266 - $122,058 + superannuation
Employment Type: Temporary (up to 12 months), Full-Time

The Independent Review Office (IRO) is looking for a Policy Officer to join its Strategy Policy & Support Team
About the organisation
The Independent Review Office supports and carries out the functions of the Independent Review Officer, who is appointed by the government on the recommendation of the Minister. The current Independent Review Officer is Samantha Taylor PSM.
The statutory functions of the IRO include to:
- find solutions for persons injured at work or in motor vehicle accidents with complaints about their insurers.
- manage and administer the Independent Legal Assistance and Review Service (ILARS)
- conduct inquiries into matters arising in connection with the operation of the Personal Injury Commission Act 2020 and the workers' compensation and motor vehicle accident legislation.

Primary Purpose of the Role:
The Policy Officer undertakes research, policy development and provides policy analysis and advice to achieve the agency's strategic objectives and outcomes aligned to broader system objectives.
Here's a taste of what you'll do:
- Undertake research and analysis, reviewing alternatives in relation to policy deliverables, to contribute to the policy process and to inform decision making
- Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of discussion papers, briefs and submissions, to contribute to the development and delivery of policy initiatives
- Prepare and review policy advice and provide policy analysis applying best practice methodologies to ensure alignment with policy directions
- Communicate with key stakeholders, develop engagement plans, coordinate and provide secretariat for working groups, committee meetings, and stakeholder consultations to support engagement as well as policy development and implementation
- Undertake research, collate and analyse information for reporting, monitoring, insights, performance and evaluation purposes to contribute to the achievement of outcomes
- Identify and assess emerging and/or contentious issues that impact service delivery and outcomes to support informed decision making and the achievement of objectives
- Support the Policy team to build and develop internal and external networks to ensure the effective development and management of strategic initiatives.
Key Skills and Experience to be Successful:
- Degree in a relevant discipline or relevant demonstrated policy experience
- Sound working knowledge of NSW legislation and legislative process
- Awareness of how regulatory and policy factors impact on service delivery
- Awareness of risk and compliance management and how it impacts policy in an organisation
- Strong work ethic, outcome focused, with a can-do attitude to work to tight deadlines
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and a keen interest in improving customer experience with government services
- Ability to adapt and assimilate information quickly to ensure policy outcomes are achieved
