About the role

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for casual General Hands to join Team Swan! These applicants will provide relief duties during periods of leave or on an ad hoc needs basis for the City’s Waste Team.

Our Waste Team does a fantastic job managing the delivery of refuse and recycling services across the City. These services include kerbside collection for both domestic and commercial bins, bulk verge collections, and the servicing of litter bins in parks, reserves, and streets. The team also oversees district clean-up efforts for illegal dumping and littering. Additionally, the City operates two Recycling Centres located in Malaga and Bullsbrook, which receive and manage waste and recyclable materials for processing.

Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to;

• Manual handling
• Customer Service
• Safely operate a variety of plant and equipment
• Keep work areas clean and tidy ensuring a safe working environment, including site clean-up and litter control
• Use a two-way radio

About you

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Available to work weekdays (shifts will fall within 5.30am to 4.00pm)
• Available to work on occasions with minimal notice provided
• Understanding of safety in the workplace
• Deliver outstanding customer service
• Community minded with a willingness to improve the quality of life for our community.
• Current HR Driver’s Licence
• Safety Awareness Training Certificate (White Card)
• Experience in the Waste and Resource Recovery Industry (desirable)
• Experience operating a Rear or Side Loader (desirable)
• First Aid Certificate (desirable)
• Basic Worksite Traffic Management Certificate (desirable)
• Computer skills to complete online learning training; use workplace software and basic Microsoft office applications
• A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required.

The hourly rate for this position will be from $33.00 to $34.35, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant, plus 25% casual loading.
