THE OPPORTUNITY
Salary: $$83,214 - $89,326 per annum pro rata + 11.5% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).
Position Status and Time Fraction: Full-Time 1.0 EFT, Fixed-Term contract of employment until 19 December 2025.
Location: Chadstone campus - onsite parking with close proximity to public transport.
The Holmesglen Employment Centre comprises a number of Victorian Government initiatives which support individuals across the whole community into work and education. Our specialised team of advisers assist in providing targeted education and employment support services, as well as partnering with industry on both small and large scale employment programs
The Career Counsellor at The Holmesglen Employment Centre plays a vital role in delivering high quality career counselling services that support individuals at all stages of their employment journey. This includes guiding them through career decision making. The role is responsible for enhancing employment outcomes through tailored career education activities and employment programs. Keeping up to date of current market trends, initiatives, and ensuring learners have access to up to date resources and advice. The Career Counsellor will also actively engage with professional networks and accrediting bodies and build strong stakeholder relationships with education providers, community group, government agencies employers and employment service providers.
ABOUT YOU
- Graduate Certificate in Careers Development, or similar qualification in a related discipline, plus relevant experience.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality career counselling and guidance services, including career planning, development of effective job search strategies, and advising on education and training pathways, with a focus on empowering informed, future-focused career decisions.
- Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to facilitate groups and liaise effectively with clients and relevant stakeholders
- Demonstrated self-motivation with a proven ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality, work cooperatively and flexibly and organise multiple tasks and competing demands.
- Demonstrated organisational and proven time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work concurrently on, and prioritise, competing tasks and work schedules.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs and workshops to individuals and groups on topics such as resume and cover letter writing, job search techniques, and interviewing skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous improvement, and the ability to proactively drive creative and innovative solutions.
