About the role
The City of Sydney is seeking a Programming Officer to join the Major Events and Festivals team.
This team delivers the City’s Cultural Plan through major public events such as Sydney New Year’s Eve, Sydney Lunar Festival, Sydney Christmas, Sydney Streets, Art & About, and Capital Works launches.
The Programming Officer supports the Programming and Audience team in coordinating tasks to ensure the successful delivery of a world-class, sustainable, diverse and accessible creative program that entertains all audiences.
Reporting directly to the Head of Programming, the role includes administrative support, reporting, research, and maintaining positive communication with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders throughout event planning and delivery.
Key events include Sydney Streets, Sydney Christmas, Sydney New Year’s Eve, Sydney Lunar Festival, Art & About and Capital Works events. The role also supports the Audience Manager with administrative and communications tasks to enhance the experience for event attendees.
We're looking for someone with:
tertiary qualifications eg event management, or the equivalent competencies gained through experience working in the planning and onsite delivery of events and/or public programs
demonstrated ability to work effectively with the public and dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders
proven ability to work as an effective team member with the ability to accept direction willingly from supervisor(s) and the ability to take initiative
sound knowledge of planning and administrative processes required to support the planning and delivery of events
strong communication and relationship management skills.
The Programming Officer will contribute to a team culture that is creative, courageous, resilient and adaptive to change, with a commitment to good governance and public benefit. You will possess strong technological and administrative skills, integrity, discretion, sound judgement, with demonstrated experience working in a high performing, collaborative team.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
