Reesink Partners’ Dairy: Dairy Cattle Farmer

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Dairyperson to join our Dairy Farming operation in Fish Creek, Victoria.

We are a family run operation milking 500 cows in a 41 swing-over dairy with ACR’s, rubber floor matting and automated feed system.

This is a full-time position offering: Annual Salary of $70K – 75K (+ Super)

The day-to-day duties of the dairy position require experience in the following:

· milk production and harvesting

· cow nutrition

· cow breeding and calving

· dairy plant maintenance

· ATV operation

The successful applicant will need to have the following skillset and be responsible for the following dairy farm duties: They will be able to:

1. Actively work in the dairy, milking cows and follow our dairy milking policies and procedures.

2. Maintain and improve procedures for milk harvesting as necessary

3. Be involved with all dairy and cow yard procedures to maintain effective cow flow throughout different cattle handling tasks.

4. Operate, monitor and maintain milking plant and machinery in the dairy.

5. Perform artificial insemination procedures and follow the farms breeding programs for selection of herd mating's.

6. Liaise with the farm manager to utilize the required drugs for optimum health and breeding programs for dairy calves, heifers, dry cows, and the milking herd

7. Monitor, record and report on cow health and treatments daily.

8. Monitor, record, report, tag new calves and assist calving cows when necessary.

9. In time, assist in training and supervising new staff in our dairy farm procedures.

This position requires someone who has:

· Excellent communication skills

· Can work well alone and alongside a team

· Has passion and enthusiasm for their work

· Has had a minimum of 3-years full time experience within the dairy industry.

· Has a full license

· And is willing to learn new skills
