About the role

Our newly built experience centre & cafe attached to our Micro Dairy production warehouse in Fitzroy is tracking tremendous growth following its launch just 6 months ago and we now need an expanded team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at St David Dairy as an experienced barista / hospitality all rounder. In this 35-38 hour role, you will lead from the front with day-to-day operations in the cafe. The role offers a unique blend of hospitality and business management, as you help drive the success of this thriving cafe. The role is highly focused on coffee making.

Beyond coffee making

We are looking for a hospitality professional seeking a role as a hands on brand ambassador for both industry and community events held at our Fitzroy hub and beyond. The day to day is cafe ops but twice a weeks its event time. Think masterclasses, workshops and modules by Melbournes finest chefs, monthly pop ups, community events and of course a stack of parties to celebrate what we do, why not right?

What you'll be doing

Leading the site from the coffee machine at least 2 days week.

Oversee cafe floor operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and an efficient workflow while liaising with a number of our 500 high profile industry wholesale clients.

Coordinate and lead production tours, host product modules and co-create industry and community Dairy Experiences

Cash handling, stock management responsibilities

Contribute to the development and implementation of marketing and promotional initiatives

Provide input on menu planning and product selection

Ensure compliance with all health, safety and licensing requirements

Assist the Venue Manager and head barista in leading and motivating a small team of cafe staff through SOP development

What we're looking for

Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry

Strong customer service orientation and the ability to lead and motivate a small team

Excellent communication, problem-solving and multitasking skills

Familiarity with POS systems, inventory management and basic financial reporting

Understanding of food safety and licensing regulations in the hospitality sector

Passion for high-quality food and coffee and an interest in the dairy industry

Impeccable coffee skills and a desire to improve on these with attendance of weekly training

Full availability on both weekend days
