We are now looking to meet candidates for a new role in our team: Water Systems / Irrigation Installer

About the Role

In this role you will be working on various projects across Greenhouse and Protected Cropping installations. The primary objective is to deliver high quality and reliable pumping installations that help to promote optimal plant growth and crop health. This is to be done while adhering to safety protocols in compliance with workplace health and safety and ultimately delivering exceptional value and service to our customers.

Your background:

Your background and experiences can be varied; you may have worked as an irrigation plumber, installing irrigation systems, or managing a team of irrigation technicians. We are open to understanding how your background and skills can fit with Powerplants and our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation:

Install various irrigation systems and pipework (pump sets and overhead systems such as drip lines, overhead sprinklers, etc.) within greenhouse environments.

Interpret and follow layout drawings, irrigation plans, schematics, & P&ID’s

Ensure proper placement of pipes, fittings, valves, controllers, and other components.

Test systems to check performance and ensure proper functionality.

Maintenance & Repair:

Provide remote and field-based trouble shooting and fault diagnosis and creative problem solving

Support planned maintenance activities, repairs and modifications

Deliver high quality customer support and advice

Conduct routine inspections of irrigation systems to identify potential issues.

Repair leaks, replace faulty parts, and maintain equipment.

Safety:

Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations related to irrigation systems and greenhouse operations.

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Full compliance to WH & S/OH & S protocols and processes.

Other tasks:

Operate and maintain irrigation equipment, such as pumps & controllers.

Provide support to other staff and customers.

Complete necessary paperwork and reports.

Stay up to date on the latest irrigation technologies and best practices.

Skills and knowledge:

Knowledge of irrigation systems and infrastructure, including:

Irrigation principles and technologies and water management.

Water flow rates, selecting appropriate components like pipes, valves, pumps, and controllers, and laying out the system efficiently.

Fault finding issues with irrigations systems and implementing solutions

Understanding and compliance of local water usage regulations.

Understanding of irrigation plans and system performance

Customer Communication: experience interacting with customers to understand their irrigation needs/preferences and provide excellent customer service.

Understanding of, and mechanical aptitude in machinery operation, repairs and maintenance

Confidence to work independently during irrigation installation and maintenance

Have a proactive and self-driven attitude with the ability to work autonomously.

Other important items:

There will be overnight stays and travel both in Victoria and interstate

You must hold a Full Drivers Licence

Shortlisted candidates will participate in an on-site practical task and interviews.
