Our School is growing and we need you. With a reporting responsibility to the Course Coordinator the School of Health (School), the Educator, Individual support plays a crucial role in the training and development of individuals pursuing a career in aged care, disability support, and community services. This position involves delivering comprehensive educational programs that equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality support to individuals in various settings.
This role not only requires a solid educational background but also a genuine passion for empowering others through education. Empowering students to pursue excellence in their chosen future careers is the cornerstone philosophy at the School of Health.
Your key responsibilities are:
Curriculum Development: Design and implement engaging training programs that align with the Certificate III Individual Support framework.
Instruction: Deliver face to face education classes, workshops, and practical sessions to enhance students' understanding of individual support services.
Assessment: Evaluate student performance through various assessment methods, ensuring they meet industry standards.
Support and Guidance: Provide mentorship to students, helping them navigate their educational journey and career pathways.
Industry Engagement: Collaborate with local health and community service organisations to ensure the curriculum remains relevant, up to date and effective.
Key Selection Criteria:
Qualifications
At the minimum hold TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent qualification(s)
Hold the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing or Disability) or equivalent qualification.
Current industry experience (within 12mths) in the aged care and/or disability sectors
Experience in teaching or training within the vocational education sector is preferred.
Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage students with the learning material and resources.
Ability to create a supportive learning environment that encourages student participation.
Knowledge of current industry practices, legislation, standards and regulations related to the provision of individual support services.
Knowledge and experience of the Standards for RTOs 2015 and 2025.
Demonstrated experience or an ability to work in a culturally diverse environment with an appreciation of wider equity issues within the workplace, including a strong commitment to Equal Opportunity policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective workplace relationships with relevant industry stakeholders in the aged care and disability sectors
National Police Clearance (NPC MUST be current, unencumbered and ongoing during employment) and/or be willing to gain prior to employment.
Current Working with Children Check and DCSI Vulnerable Persons checks and/or be willing to gain/update.
Demonstrate contemporary knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office suite.
