About the role
We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant, with clinical experience in either speech pathology, occupational therapy, or neuropsychology/clinical psychology, to join our NHMRC Assess for Success team at Curtin University. The successful candidate will support research activities under the guidance of the Academic Project Lead, and undertake a variety of research support, logistical and administrative tasks.
This is a fixed-term (3 years), part-time (0.6 FTE) position which offers a unique opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary, multi-site research team spanning speech pathology, occupational therapy, neuropsychology, and health economics. You will play a critical role in the project, assisting the Postdoctoral Research Fellow and team in collecting and analysing interview and interactional data. This will enable the co-design, testing, and implementing of a new training program to improve how assessments are communicated with clients and families, and to enhance consumer engagement in acquired brain injury rehabilitation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate requirements, and prepare materials for research activities, meetings, travel arrangements for visiting investigators on the Grant.
- Liaise with project stakeholders and participants to arrange activities.
- Contribute to research activities in accordance with the skills required of the position.
- Undertake literature searches and reviews.
- Assist with the preparation of ethics and governance applications.
- Undertake data collection and preliminary analysis.
- Assist with the drafting of progress reports and publications.
- Assist with the preparation of materials and organisation for conference presentations and workshops.
- Facilitate input and updating of research information/activity in relevant databases.
- Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
- Undertake other activities which the incumbent might reasonably be expected to do, and which are consistent with the accountabilities and responsibilities as listed above.
Who we are looking for - Selection Criteria
- Completion of a relevant degree AND clinical experience in either Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Neuropsychology or Clinical Psychology, preferably in adult neurological rehabilitation.
- Demonstrated experience in relevant scientific/research methods, techniques and protocols.
- Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills with the ability to coordinate activities and prioritise tasks.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collate and analyse data.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in both written and oral communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues and stakeholders and to produce documentation which is clear and concise.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of word-processing and spreadsheet packages, including the ability to generate reports.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as effectively as part of a team.

- As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
