Your Role, Your Impact

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family/Carer Peer Worker to join our team and provide vital support to the families and carers of young people. Drawing on lived experience, the successful candidate will empower family members by offering supportive care and promoting capacity building through the Intentional Peer Support Framework. You will play a key role in developing collaborative care plans, maintaining an active caseload, and ensuring the delivery of holistic services in coordination with our multidisciplinary team.

Promotes family inclusive practice across the team and deepens understanding of the complex support carers provide, and the impact this has on them.

Maintain an active caseload and work cooperatively with team members to ensure continuity of care and provision of a comprehensive service to young people and their family/carers.

Assists in the development of care plans for young people, considering the role family/carers play in the recovery of their young person.

Complete appropriate referrals, as needed.

Who We’re Looking For

Skills required for this role include experience in the youth mental health space along with strong communication and engagement skills, with the ability to be non-judgemental and client focused.

Qualifications:

Minimum Cert IV in peer work, mental health, community services, AOD (Alcohol & Other Drugs) or youth work

Current state-based driver’s license

Demonstrated experience in:

Providing evidence-based support to family / carers, informed by the Intentional Peer Support Framework.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Working with family / carers in the context of severe mental health issues.

Ability to share experiences of recovery in a way that supports, empowers and brings hope to others while allowing them to lead their own recovery.

Demonstrated ability to transform personal experience of recovery into skills that support others to achieve and sustain recovery.

Your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build strong relationships with clients, families, and other service providers, ensuring the delivery of integrated and high-quality care.
