The opportunity

Wallabadah Hotel is seeking an experienced and talented Head Chef to join our team at our small family-owned country pub in Wallabadah, NSW. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for leading our awesome kitchen team and managing the kitchen operations, overseeing the creation of fabulous country pub dining for our patrons.

Key responsibilities

Work alongside us to develop and implement creative, seasonal menus that showcase fresh seasonal produce

Manage and mentor a team of kitchen staff, ensuring consistent high-quality food preparation and trendy presentation

Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards

Manage kitchen operations, including inventory, budgeting, and cost control

High level of communication to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction

Ongoing collaboration with management, researching food trends and industry best practices to drive innovation

What we're looking for

Experience as a Head Chef or similar senior culinary role

Formal culinary education or training, with a strong understanding of various cooking techniques and cuisine styles including making a good pub feed!

Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing kitchen team

Excellent time management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

Passion for using fresh, local ingredients and creating innovative, flavourful dishes

Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen management best practices

Commitment and flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
