This is a Full-Time Fixed-Term role from 16/06/2025 - 12/06/2026, based in either Benalla or Wodonga.

The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.

About the Group

Schools and Regional Services (SRS) offers central, regional, and local expertise to enhance learning and development outcomes, supported by a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce. It comprises 17 areas within 4 regions, backed by 5 central office divisions, all collaborating to deliver improved outcomes for early childhood services, schools, communities, and learners, in line with Education State commitments. SRS regions serve as a bridge between the central office, schools, and service providers, ensuring smooth transitions for learners and achieving the department's ambitious targets. Each region includes divisions specialising in school performance, student wellbeing and early childhood support, working with area-based teams to tailor local interventions and practices. The 17 areas provide crucial insights into local trends and issues, facilitating effective policy and program development and driving child and learner outcomes across all services and programs.

This role is located in the Nursing Unit, Ovens Murray Area, North East Victoria Region, SRS.

About the Role

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead and manage registered nurses in the delivery of the primary and secondary school nursing programs within the region. The School Nursing Manager/Coordinator will provide people management to oversee the delivery of health services to achieve program and regional objectives. This includes:

  • performance management
  • coordination of professional development
  • supervision
  • workload management
  • ensure nurses are provided with relevant information and resources to deliver on their core deliverables.

The School Nursing Manager/Coordinator will lead planning, evaluate and report on the delivery of the program within their area.

A core element of the role is to promote and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including regional and health wellbeing and inclusion workforces, school staff and principals and external health and wellbeing services.

The incumbent is required to be a registered nurse and practice in accordance with Department of Education policy and procedure as well as the various Professional Codes, Guidelines and Registration Standards set by Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority. Qualifications and Experience

  • Desirable: A relevant tertiary qualification in the areas of child or adolescent health, health promotion, mental health, sexual health, public health or primary health care.
  • Essential: A current registration as a Division 1 nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority.

The successful applicant will be required to provide a current Working With Children Check.
